Filipinos Still Most Number of NCLEX Takers

The Philippines' RN (registered nurses) still comprise the biggest number of NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) takers among nurses educated outside of the U.S.

For the first 9 months of 2013, there were 2,952 Filipinos who took the exams, out of a total of 5,804 takers. That means that half of the total takers are from the Philippines. The other RN's come from India, Canada, South Korea and Puerto Rico.

In the past 7 years of the NCLEX exams, the Filipino RN's were also dominant, being 47.3% (in 2012) to 71.8% (2009) of the total takers.

The NCLEX exam is a prerequisite for nurses wanting to work as registered nurses in the U.S. The exams is administered by NCSBN (National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.), and since August 23, 2007 has been given in test centers in Manila.
