A Filipino Nursing Director’s U.K. Trust is Looking for OR and ICU Nurses
It was pretty difficult to ignore the many good news about the U.K. market last week. Not only has the POEA officially announced its signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the U.K. when it comes to the recruitment of Filipino nurses; Many news outlets have also confirmed the European country’s need for at least 50,000 nurses by 2025! The United Kingdom may already seem “on fire” as a country of work destination nowadays, and it looks like there are no signs of it slowing down anytime soon.

A Merger and a Filipino Nursing Director
The University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust first made news in April 2020 since it was formally launched as a result of a merger between Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust and Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The merger makes this newly formed Trust a much bigger one as it is now composed of nearly 20,000 employees working in various facilities located in Brighton and Hove, Haywards Heath, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, and Chichester. Shortly after, the Trust made headlines once again as it appointed Filipino nurse Edmund Tabay as its Nursing Director on September 1, making him the first Filipino nurse to hold a very senior manager position in the NHS.
