U.S. Med Techs on Immigrant Visas? It’s Possible!


There has always been a great demand for Filipino nurses in the United States, but in recent years, opportunities for Filipino Medical Technologists have also started showing up. This shouldn’t be a surprise since Philippine healthcare was founded and shaped by the Americans back in the 1900s. The country’s standards and practices when it comes to Medical Technology are very similar to that of the United States', and we couldn’t be more excited to recruit these healthcare professionals as well.


Med Techs aspiring to work in the U.S. are commonly issued the H.1.-B visa, a working visa that the U.S. issues to foreign workers in specialty occupations. Since there are just too many individuals from all over the world that are applying for this type of visa, the United States limits the number of H.1.-B visas that it issues every year through a lottery system. In this system, only a randomly selected set of applicants will get to proceed with their H.1.-B visa applications, whereas the rest will have to reapply the following year. The process for the selected few applicants may be quick, but the low probability of being chosen in the lottery tends to discourage Med Techs.


Good thing, our newest U.S. client, Visa Solutions Healthcare, is offering E.B.-3 immigrant visas to U.S. Med Tech applicants! This visa, which is commonly used for USRN applicants, is an immigrant visa that will eventually allow the Med Tech to permanently settle in the United States–with his / her dependents! The application process for this may be much slower than the H.1.-B’s, but it’s one that won’t have to go through an unpredictable lottery system at least!
