Why Nurses Continue Applying to Germany—Despite the German Language Training

Germany has become one of the most popular countries of work destination among immigrants, coming only second to the United States, thanks to its encouraging immigration policies. Filipino nurses who have successfully migrated to Germany will attest to its competitive compensation; generous health care and educational benefits; and healthy work-life balance. They will also assert how the country’s progressive thinking has paved the way for its thriving economy; rich culture; and excellent transportation system. It has a diverse workforce that encourages fair treatment among everyone: Foreign workers using work visas are even allowed to bring their spouses and children with them after a good number of months!

The country, however, is notorious among Filipino nurses for requiring them to pass a difficult German language proficiency exam to be able to work here. They’d usually have to spend a good number of months at an accredited German language training center to be able to pass it, and some would even have to resign from their day jobs just so they can effectively focus on it. Despite this, many Filipino nurses continue pursuing their applications to this European country: As what Filipino nurses who’ve flown to Germany before them would say, the many advantages of working at and eventually migrating to Germany trump the time and effort that were spent on learning the German language!

Additionally, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III recently signed important bilateral labor agreements with the German government to both enhance the current recruitment procedure for nurses and open up more opportunities for other healthcare professionals. Through these agreements, nurses who get recruited through private recruitment agencies licensed by the POEA should experience an easier and faster process. At the same time, work opportunities will finally be available to physiotherapists, radiographers, occupational therapists, biomedical scientists, and other allied health professionals who are also aspiring to work in Germany.

With all these encouraging information, we invite you to apply to one of our Germany employer clients. Its vacancies are open to ALL Philippine-registered nurses—even those without work experience—so come on and take a chance! See the details below.
