Why You Should Become a USRN—According to this YouTube Vlogger

Stories Overseas is an omnibus platform that we launched just a few years ago where the nurses, health care workers, and many other Filipino professionals that we’ve deployed abroad can share their application journey and overseas stories. We started it out through sharing photos and testimonials from our deployed applicants, then eventually started releasing full-length video interviews with some of them. One of the nurses that we’ve recently featured was Mr. Marvin Umandap, and it definitely turned out into something so much more than we’ve hoped for.

For starters, Marvin’s definitely not your ordinary nurse. He is a vlogger named Mogu Marv who doesn’t just document his life as a nurse, but also talks about his two favorite hobbies—traveling and motorcycles. He has a 6,650 strong following on YouTube and more and more nurses, travel junkies and motorcycle enthusiasts are looking forward to him and his exciting content.

His experience as a nurse didn’t also happen in the traditional way. Whereas most USRN applicants would simply work for a number of years to be qualified then fly to the U.S., he worked as a Transcriptionist instead for 7 years: It was only after this stint when he eventually started working in a hospital to get the qualification that he needed. His application to the U.S. also didn’t go very smoothly since there were also a number of hurdles that he had to weather. At certain points, he even considered quitting his USRN application! Good thing, he persevered, and now he’s finally working as an E.R. nurse in Alabama, United States. If you want to know the rest of his story, you may tune in to this Stories Overseas episode.

Marvin’s employer is actually our biggest client in the U.S., Vintage Health Resources (VHR). In fact, some of his YouTube channel episodes are dedicated to his journey as a USRN from application until now; his close relationships with his fellow nurses and employer; and the nice accommodation that VHR has provided. You can check out his YouTube channel.

VHR will be holding employer interviews in June! If you wish to join Marvin Umandap in the U.S., then you may check out these details.
