Top 5 Reasons to Pursue Your American Dream Under an EB-2 Visa
As cliché as it may sound, the US is ultimately known as the end goal for nurses looking for greener pastures. The EB-3 visa is one of the most common pathways that allows them to become permanent residents of the country as well as bring their qualified dependents and start a new life abroad. Once immigrants finally become green card holders, they can enjoy benefits such as job mobility, permanent residency, have their spouse legally apply for a job, their dependents can avail of free education in public schools, access social services, particularly health insurance plans including their spouse and dependents, and ultimately, apply for US citizenship.

Unlike other visa classifications like H-1B, EB-3 holders possess stronger legal protection than workers under H-1B. While both types of visas are protected by US labor laws, the pathway to EB-3 is more stable and fundamentally different. EB-3 holders have the legal right to remain and work in the US even after being laid off or if they decide to leave their job. On the other hand, H-1B holders' status is tied to their sponsoring employer. Once they are terminated, they are given a 60-day grace period to search for a new employer to sponsor their visa. If the holder fails to find a future employer within the given 60-day period, he, together with his dependents, must leave the US immediately. These reasons evidently make the US and the EB-3 pathway to nurses more attractive.

While the E-B3 visa sounds like a solid game plan for nurses who are 100% dedicated to pursuing their American Dream, the sound of its appeal equates to a certain amount of hard work and time. As the saying goes, difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations. When it comes to the USRN application, the use of the term "difficult" is an understatement. The road to the American Dream is lengthy, tedious, expensive, and will definitely test your faith and patience in the process. In fact, some candidates choose to discontinue despite investing a significant amount of time, effort, and money, as they feel hopeless during the process. This is because the typical process of the USRN application runs for almost 3 years due to the retrogression. As of June 2026, the visa bulletin for July 2026 remains at August 2023. This means that consular offices are only processing applications whose petitions were submitted on or before August 2023. It has been steady at August 2023 since March this year. The retrogression acts like a catalyst for nurses' decisions to withdraw their application and shift to a different career in the hopes of gaining the investments they lost during their application.

Although the EB-3 visa serves as the most common and primary route for PHRNs aspiring to be USRNS, there's also another visa category that has long been introduced and has slowly gained attention starting in 2022. This is none other than the EB-2 visa. Curious to know more about the edge of this alternative pathway? Scroll down to learn more.
Shorter Visa Queue Potential - The EB-2 route demands stricter eligibility, resulting in reduced volume of applicants. Hence, it typically moves faster. The EB-3, on the other hand, due to high demand, has longer waiting times depending on the country of origin. As a matter of fact, while the EB-3 visa bulletin has stayed in August 2023 for the Philippines since March of this year, the EB-2 category has remained current since April of this year. Although the EB-2 holds higher priority, let's take note that its movement is still completely dependent on the visa bulletin.
Stronger Immigration Standing - EB-2, being a higher-priority employment-based category, may offer overall favorable processing due to eligibility criteria and lower demand.
Premium Processing Option - Aside from the favorable timeline, premium processing is also available for faster USCCIS adjudication.
Direct Path to Green Card - Coming from the same categories, permanent residency is also within reach for the worker and the qualified dependents, provided that they undergo the legal process and submit the requirements.
Available Vacancies Now! - Abba Personnel Services, Inc. introduces its newest client that offers the EB-2 pathway for aspiring USRNS.
